Lessons From Abroad

GreatWall:

I've just returned from a week of partner training in Beijing China.  Though the pictures seem to tell a story of a grand Oriental Vacation, I *promise* that I was really working hard.  No really.

It's true, though that I did get out to see some of the great sites.  The highlight (aside from bringing key ECM knowledge to the PRC and our Partners there - I mean really, how could anything compare with that??) was standing on one of the 7 wonders of the Ancient world, the Great Wall of China. BillyWall:   It was amazing.  The two partners I brought with me (one from Taiwan one from Beijing) agreed.

What I learned from the week there of training and "knoweldge transfer" was that the concepts that Raoul and Wayne discuss below of "Invisible ECM" are globally sought and needed.  We had architecture brainstorm sessions with key partners and prospects while there on how to put ECM underneath Enterprise Business Suite, PeopleSoft and Siebel.  The reality is that clients around the world are waking up to the realization and the desperate need to have rich content management capabilities available to their Application generated content.   Whether it is an engineering project management system fronted by EBS needing a scalable ECM infrastructure for CAD and project files, or a marketing management system fronted by Siebel needing a scalable ECM infrastructure for emails, graphics, and promotional materials, they all share the need of an invisible ECM capability sitting underneath the appliction interface of choice.

learning:   These guys are going to figure it out and implement it.  You need to as well.
