Optimizing Application Performance

The performance of Oracle CRM On Demand isn’t all related to servers and software. The choices your company makes in customizing the application and setting up users and roles also affects performance. And even further, how you use the application plays a role in performance.

With that said, you may ask, “What can I do to get the best possible performance in CRM On Demand?” The simplified answer to that question is the same for any application, “Request only the pages and data you need to do your job.” By making fewer clicks and getting more focused information, you give the application less data to process and render, so it runs faster.

Here are a few tips to help you optimize performance in CRM On Demand:

Use lists – Focus on the information you need, instead of looking at all accounts or all contacts. This lets you more easily see critical information and creates less of a load on application resources. Take the Creating and Managing Lists Webinar to learn more about how you can use lists to your advantage.

Update your Homepage layouts – Modify your Homepage layouts to include only the sections that you use. This allows the pages to load faster. To update layouts:
1. Click the My Setup link in the upper-right area of any page.
2. Click the Personal Layout link.
3. Click one of the links in the Personal Homepage Layout section.
4. Use the arrow buttons to move unnecessary sections to the Available Sections column; this hides the sections from view.

Use favorites – Access the records you use most frequently with just one click from the Action bar. This saves time and reduces system load.
• To add a record to the Favorite Records section of your action bar, navigate to the record and click the Add to Favorites (favorites.jpg) button.

Use inline edit: Click in any field to edit the specific information, rather than clicking the Edit button to update an entire page. This is faster because you save just that field rather than saving all fields.

Collapse sections: Hide the sections that you do not use often. This allows pages to load more quickly because there is less data to render.
• To collapse a section, click the Collapse (collapse.jpg) button in the upper-left corner of any section.

If you are a Company Administrator, there are more tips to help you ensure that CRM On Demand runs efficiently at an enterprise level. Using these tips, you will get the fastest possible performance in CRM On Demand.
