Q) What’s the difference between Oracle Certification and the Oracle Partner Network (OPN) Sales Champion?
A) The Oracle Sales Champion program is related to partner authorization for OPN. In order for companies to resell Oracle products they need to become an Authorized Partner. Among the requirements to become authorized is that the company have a certain number of employees certified by Oracle (such as OCP DBA or Siebel Implementation Consultant Expert). In areas where Oracle University does not offer certification, OPN has compiled Sales Champion assessments to cover those areas.
Someone who completes a Sales Champion exam is not “Oracle certified”, but it does count towards the requirements for becoming authorized (for his or her company). Sales Champion is used solely as a part of the partner authorization for OPN. Oracle Certification is different, as it is both a credential granted to the individual and also factors into partner authorization (as one of the requirements).
For partner partner training information, be sure to explore the OPN Competency Center.
