Oracle Certification

Good news, and very interesting, but from our experience in the UK, you'll be lucky to even get booked on a course let alone a chance for the certification.

3 courses cancelled in a row, we're due 2 people on an ALSB course on Monday 15th and that's now been cancelled for some reason.

OU appears outwardly to be a huge organisation and very professional, but from our experience in the UK it's not.

Sorry to be critical, but whilst certification is a good thing, getting courses to run would be step 1......forget the certification, until courses run, its a waste of time.

Sorry to hear about the course cancellations. I'm certain that this is not easy on anyone and I'm sad to hear it.

As an FYI the BEA tracks are fairly popular. We have a steady stream of folks getting BEA certified each week. I believe and assume that this is because they find value in the process and the end-result (credential). I hope that you are able to find the training that you need soon and that once you do you will consider getting certified.

I’ve a query about Exam 1Z0-114 (Oracle SOA Architect Expert Certified).

I did the 4 days SOA: Architectural Concepts and Design Principles training at Oracle in May(5th May – 8th May) at OU Reading Training center apart from the training being a bit poor in quality, it was 'confusing' as well - the trainer did have new/latest set of slides/study material for that course which reflected the post Oracle BEA Integration scenario/products and the certification as per him was based upon the old BEA Material Only i.e. it doesn’t refer to/takes intro consideration the new and integrated Oracle/BEA products rather its this exam is simply inherited from BEA and has all BEA stuff. Can you please confirm if this is the case? I am registered for this Exam on 3rd of August and I certainly need to know what should I be studying?

Also, if this exam is based upon the old BEA products, then any plans of revising it making it ‘new’ to reflect the integrated Oracle/BEA products please? If yes, what are the timelines please?

If the exam is changing then : What will be the status of the candidates that did old certification? Do they need to re-take the new exam to stay certified or what? Please clarify.

If the exam is NOT changing then : as I said more than half of the course was covered with the new slides and if the exam is going to be based on the old ones then my purpose to take the course(which was strictly the certification) is certainly defeated? (Indeed the old study material was provided as well but it wasn’t used to teach from, we were taught using the new ones which is different.)

We would like to confirm that the exam is based on the older materials, even though your class was taught from the newer materials. It is great that you received materials from both courses. The newer materials will allow you to stay abreast of the newer advances in the training, but the older materails will help you to prepare for the certification exam. Updating certification exams often follows updated training. It is rare that they happen concurrently, so it is not unusual for a version of training to be available that is later than the exam version. Often when this happens, we will validate the exam against the new training so that both versions of training will be valid to help candidates prepare for the exam. This has not happened yet for the 1Z0-114 exam, so it was perfect for you to receive the older materials in your class. You should use the older materials to help you prepare for the exam. Please also note that the recommended training on the exam page http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_exam_id=1Z0_114 lists both the Architectural Concepts and Design Principles course, and the Organization, Planning & Architectural Consideration for SOA course to help you best prepare for this exam. The exam will pull topics from both courses. The Organization course is also available as a live virtual class that you can take online with an instructor. There is also a list of OUKC courses posted on the exam page that will help you to prepare for this exam.

Regarding the future of this exam, that is being discussed at this time. Once a plan has been determined, we will make the announcements on our website and in our blog, as well as in our monthly eMagazine. Does Oracle maintain a database of certified WebLogic specialists? Is it possible to validate an individual's certification? Did BEA's certification database transfer to Oracle?
