The Oracle Certification team is considering the possibility of releasing an Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) certification. In an effort to determine the demand for such a certification as well as which role we have created a survey for candidates to share their thoughts.
Please access the survey here. [UPDATE: survey closed as of 14 Nov 2008]
We appreciate your help on this!

Hi Paul,
I am new to OBI and this would be a great opportunity to have a strong learning path for OBI and highlight the various areas within OBI - Core, Repository or Presentation layers or specific technologies related to BI for Apps like DAC or the Informatica or ODi engines.
I think this is a good idea.

Is this going to be more comprehensive than the: Siebel 7.7 Certified Server Architect Professional
Currently there are 4 certifications available for Siebel 7.7, how will this certification play into those who have or are looking to get certified in Siebel since there are no OBIEE certifications? Hopefully this is something being decided upon soon...I wouldn't want to get the Server Architect certification then turn around to get the OBIEE architect certification just because the other one is now outdated. Please advice...
Posted by Charles | September 23, 2008 9:19 AM
Charles- At this point we are only conducting an investigation of the feasibility of an OBIEE-related certification. We are not sure if, what or when something will be built. In any case we won't be retiring the 7.7 tracks in the near future (or anytime soon for that matter), so pursuing one of those should not be an issue.

HI Chandra - this is not a certification that is available right now. Oracle is just assessing the possibility of creating one. We will update our blog here if we go forward with this new certification.

Please feel free to get in touch with me, if you feel you can use any help in this regards.I would be really interested in getting involved in such an effort.

Following are the courses available from Oracle, which will be accepted for Server Architect , Application Developer and DW Developer Professional Certification
Question is which courses should I take to get certified against each of the certification path. Since Oracle is not offering most of the Siebel 7.7 classes.
1)Oracle BI 10g Analytics: Overview ( Live Virtual Class)
2) Oracle BI Applications 7.9 : Develop a Data Warehouse (Instructor Led Class)
3)Oracle BI Suite EE 10g R3: Create Reports/Dashboards (Instructor Led Class)
4) Oracle BI Suite EE 10g R3: Build Repositories (Instructor Led Class)
5) Oracle BI Applications 7.9 : Implementation for Oracle EBS (Coming Soon)
following is the note I found on Oracle University Site
Due to the decreasing availability of the Siebel 7.7 Analytics courses, Oracle Certification will accept the Oracle BI courses toward Analytics certification. However, please remember that the Siebel 7.7 Analytics courses remain the best way to prepare for these exams and Oracle BI courses may not sufficiently help prepare candidates.
Certification paths:
* Siebel 7.7 Analytics Server Architect Professional Core Exam
* Siebel 7.7 Analytics App. Developer Professional Core Exam
* Siebel 7.7 Analytics Data Warehouse Dev. Prof. Core Exam

I think a certification would be very helpful as most people dont know what they are talking about and experience is good but hiring managers know nothing about OBIEE and a certification from Oracle would be a great thing.
Posted by Mansur Khan | February 2, 2009 10:35 AM
I think it is a good idea, however i think you should not have a big fee for the course and allow people with experience to give the exam directly and not have a class and hands on mandatory. This mandatory class puts too big a burden on us.
but an exam is very helpful so in the least when hiring a person meets minimum requirements.

I am eagerly awaiting any news on OBIEE+ certification.
My company would have at least 5 persons interested.
Please contact me if anything becomes available.
Posted by Ciaran | February 25, 2009 8:30 AM
Hi,
I think the certification would be a good idea BUT...what I think is also missing from the Oracle site is some clear indication of the compatiblity between versions of various different products (unless I have missed it).
When looking to learn and investigate new products prior to training and certification a clear indication of the future of the product and how it fits in to the overall Oracle architecture would help.
On the certification specifics I think a stepped / tier'd approach would be good i.e. OBIEE Professional --> OBIEE Expert --> OBIEE GURU. Only joking on the last one but I think sometimes the certifications require too many exams and then suddenly a new version is out. The customers really want a way to get certified to a sufficient level quickly I'd say and then add to it.
thanks

Any update on this issue?
Posted by Mohammed Jibril | April 1, 2009 12:09 AM
No plans as of yet to build an OBIEE certification; however, we're continuing to assess the user community for the viability of creating one.
Posted by Harold Green | April 6, 2009 6:58 AM
1) Would Oracle ever consider consolidating the certification into one single OBIEE certification vs. three (legacy Siebel Analytics 7.7) in order to increase demand?
2) Would Oracle consider offering a certification upgrade path to OBIEE?
Thanks!
Posted by John | April 8, 2009 10:48 AM
Hi John,
Here are some quick answers to your questions:
1) This is a possible approach, but the problem we face is that the roles are so different (developer, admin, etc) it makes tough to combine the offerings into one. Probably not feasible with OBIEE.
2) Possibly, it depends upon how much the content changes. Most likely there would only be one exam so the path for new entrants and upgraders would be the same (for efficiency purposes).
I hope this helps answer your questions.
Thanks!

Hi,
I have about 5 years of experience in working with Siebel analytics/OBIEE. I can pass any exam to get certified. Is it mandetory to take training for all relavant cources bofore attend the exam? I want to become Oracle certified sibel 7.7 server architect professional but training itself costs about$5000. why oracle university made it compulasary even for working professional? what is the equivalent course in OBIEE to get certified in "Oracle certified sibel 7.7 server architect professional"
Thanks
Jayaraju
Posted by Jayaraju | April 17, 2009 9:38 AM
yep, oracle should come up with a certification track for OBIEE.
My company is on the consulting side and a part of OTN. The issue which we face is with staffing. OBIEE is new technology and difficult to find experience people. So if have certification, we would be in a better position to gain client confidence and sell deals

Developer? Admin? Architect?
Any additional input would be helpful.

Hi,
That will be great if Oracle starts certification in OBIEE. I am also working from past 2 yrs on OBIEE and looking for certification.
Harold Green I think there are so many people who are willing to do certification, so why Oracle is not initiating this ?

Hi Tarang - thanks for asking, as your question is a good one. This certification is indeed still a possibility. We just posted a helpful article on the Oracle Certification Blog called How Do We Select Which Certifications to Build?. In the meantime, we'll continue to evaluate this track for a possible certification.

Its completely strange that "ONE should attend the training to give certification ... its noth but to get money
If person is well exp then i think no need of traning
and SOME of the traniers who are in oracle university are not much worth off ......because i have been there for couple of trainings....And while coming to certification ..... its like a name plate which is kept out side of house "Certifiied Expert" Y do i say this because the question paper dont change at all and people buy the ..... (every 1 knows ) for exam and clear 's it
Its all about making money thats all i have been observing it from past 1 year same question paper same ..... and peopl dont know what they are doing
And in few weeks it pass's to all and every one get's certified ....
Major thing is person who cant afford money and has major talent in his Professional field , they get suppressed ....
So people pls pls work on it first start from core then u know wht to do....
And its not to hurt any 1 intentions but this is what i come to see

HI,
Has any decision been taken yet on introducting OBIEE certification?
As some one rightly suggested, it should be a tiered one like Basic --> Architect ---> Expert.

Hi there
I think it would give a lot of people advanced knowledge that is hard to find. I'm a SQL DBA but have been introduced to OBIEE and I have been looking for a place where I can write my certification.
So guys, I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that have this would benefit South Africa.

I spent a fair amount of time reviewing the Oracle University site and had difficulty finding content that appears suitable for my team's training needs. As a manager of an OBIEE+ development team I would like to see content geared towards the higher end technical roles, like developer and architect. It would also be great to have an OBIEE certification for my team's growth as well as my recruiting needs for hiring experts in this space.

I am waiting for the release of OBIEE Certification, I thought to write Siebel 7.7, but instead of writing old version, i can wait for sometime and write the latest version.
Can split the certification in 3 ways.
1. RPD Development
2. Report Development
3. New Features in OBIEE with Datawarehousing.
Awaiting for the Release of OBIEE Certification.
