With the addition of this new track, PL/SQL Developer OCAs can choose either the Forms Developer OCP or the new Advanced PL/SQL Developer OCP (or they can pursue both). I’ve had a number of people talk to me about additional options for developers so I’m particularly excited about this track.
Here are some important links associated with the new track:
- Certification Track: Oracle Advanced PL/SQL Developer
- Certification Exam: Oracle Database 11g Advanced PL/SQL (Exam 1Z0-146)
- Exam Registration
- OU Recommended Training
We need qualified developers to take participate in the beta. This helps us get the exam out in production sooner. Exam price for betas is only $50 (US).
Please Note: If you are not a PL/SQL OCA but have passed some combination of our developer exams, you may still be eligible to earn this new OCP credential:
If you have passed one of our SQL exams (1Z0-001, 1Z0-007, 1Z0-047 or 1Z0-051) AND one of our PL/SQL exams (1Z0-101 or 1Z0-147) then you can get your OCP by passing the new 1Z0-146 Oracle Database 11g Advanced PL/SQL exam.
If you are not sure whether you qualify, send your questions to ocpexam_ww@oracle.com.

Can you please suggest some documents from the available Oracle Documentation that will cover the topics of the exam.
The suggested course for the exam doesn't seem to be available in India and UK region.
(Also for individuals the courses are very costly)

Hi Debojyoty - because of the many routes available to certification, the best resource to start with is actually the objectives themselves http://tinyurl.com/5pjdh3. The "Oracle Database 11g: Advanced PL/SQL" training course specifically covers this content, so you can investigate further at http://tinyurl.com/63uu9o, but I think the content is too new for anyone to have published any books on this yet.

Hi Sid - that date hasn't been confirmed yet. I'm estimating it to likely be early April (possibly the end of March).

Tamilselvan – we currently have the Oracle Database 11g: Advanced PL/SQL course. You might also check on OTN's Oracle Certification Forum for tips from other people who have prepared for this.
Good luck!

Tabassum – This would be a good topic to check on OTN's Oracle Certification Forum for tips from other people. Be sure and specify there which track(s) you are considering for the best responses.
Good luck!

Paul,
You mentioned, "If you are not a PL/SQL OCA but have passed some combination of our developer exams, you may still be eligible to earn this new OCP credential".
CertView shows that I previously passed both 1Z0-001 and 1Z0-101 back in Feb-2001.
Questions:
1) Does this award me the OCA certification level?
2) More importantly, am I able to obtain my OCP certification level by now taking and passing the new 1Z0-146 Oracle Database 11g Advanced PL/SQL exam (given that I've only taken 1Z0-001 and 1Z0-101)?
Thanks,
Jason Genovese

Hi Jason - although this does not award the OCA level, you are correct that you can obtain the OCP by now taking and passing 1Z0-146.
(Sorry for the delayed response ...for some reason I had to un-publish & re-publish your comment several times to get it to show up)
