Christine joined the EMEA Graduates Recruitment Team one year ago. She is responsible for our German speaking roles in Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland but also Ireland and Spain).
Christine, what are the tasks that keep you busy on your working days?
Actually, my job is amazingly diverse. It starts with an initial discussion with the ORACLE Managers to assess requirements for the open roles. Based on this information, I prepare the job description and start the marketing process. We are currently advertising our jobs in around 150 universities and relevant student job boards. We are very active in the various social networks like Xing, Facebook, LinkedIn, we have print adverts in study books and we organise and attend lectures, career fairs and all kind of other events for students and professors. In addition, I am responsible for the whole application process which includes the CV screen, the phone interviews, right up to the preparation of the contract documents necessary for hiring.
What do you like about working at ORACLE?
Working at ORACLE is innovative and dynamic. Everything happens at a very fast pace making the working day very interesting and diverse. There are many things I value, but the most important thing for me working at ORACLE is to work with bright and energetic people.
Not forgetting that I am working in an inspiring team. We are a virtual, multinational and very motivated team with a great spirit. Although I have never met many of my team members in person, they welcomed me heartily and were always supportive when I needed something and I am really thankful for that.
ORACLE is committed to improving the quality of life in the local communities. What is your personal experience with Corporate Social Responsibility?
The Corporate Social Responsibility is a very important point for me - maybe because I am actually a Social Worker. In Germany, every employee can take one day to engage in a social project. Since I am a Graduates Recruiter, I care about the future high performers and I found an activity where I could spend a day with the future ORACLE employees of 2020. I visited a farm around Munich, together with 15 children and the teachers of the Montessori- Integration Kindergarten Munich East.
It was great being part of this special group of small individuals where everyone is valued and welcomed just as he is. I am impressed by the way the teachers and the children interacted with each other; respectful, empowering and motivating while exploring their new surroundings with excitement. Back home, I still often hear the little giggles and see the happy faces in front of me and I am convinced that taking the Corporate Social Responsibility seriously can be absolutely fun!
