Modernisation .. How to achieve the benefits
As part of my role working with EDS, Modernisation is a hot topic. If you don't already know, Modernisation is the subject of taking an old, often unsupported, system and "Modernising" it with the latest technologies.
There are lots of challenges to face, skills shortage, the fear of throwing away man-years of development effort etc.. Often people think that simply means throwing the old system away and totally rewriting it, thankfully this isn't always true. There are a number of tools from 3rd party vendors and techniques that mean that modernisation isnt as difficult as it initially seams..
However there's still a lot of work to be done, but the results are often worth it...
