Dashboard Management: Pointing to an External URL

It is relatively easy to create a custom tab in the Agile PLM Dashboard that points to any external URL. Possible examples could be relevant ERP systems that provide complementary data, and websites that rate and perform analysis on parts, suppliers and manufacturers.

Following are the steps to create a new tab and point it to any external URL. I have chosen a generic URL for this example, but you can replace it with any URL of your choice.

1. Register your URL PX:
In the JavaClient, create a new entry of type ‘URL’ in the Process Extensions library. Make sure the ‘Initiate From’ field includes the Dashboard.

2. Create a new tab and associate your URL with it:
Under System Settings -> Dashboard Management, create a new dashboard tab.
Make sure that it is part of the ‘Applied To’ for the Read Dashboard Tabs privilege. You will need to do this in order to provide users with access to this newly created tab.

Drill-down to the table and point it to the URL PX you previously registered i.e. point your Dashboard Extension field to the appropriate URL PX. That’s it, you are good to go!

Once again, your questions and comments are welcome.
