The Best Practice Center provides technical, hands-on content geared to PeopleSoft Developers and Technologists to show you how to start creating SOA with your PeopleSoft applications today. We illustrate the progression of a business process from the initial modeling to the eventual creation of the executable software using Oracle BPA Suite, Oracle SOA Suite and PeopleSoft HCM.

Oracle BPA Suite provides a standards based approach for the modeling, analysis and simulation of business processes. Sharing these process models with the development team is as easy as clicking a button that reads “Share Blueprint with IT” which then exports the process metadata to the Oracle SOA Suite (Oracle BPEL PM, Oracle JDeveloper). The development team integrates the resulting BPEL model with the backend PeopleSoft HCM to create the executable software.

The recent BEA acquisition augments Oracle SOA Suite with BEA's AquaLogic Service Bus (henceforth referred to as the Oracle Service Bus). OSB offers a lightweight Enterprise Service Bus to connect, mediate and manage interactions between heterogeneous services and legacy applications. The go-forward strategy is to offer a unified service bus architecture that combines the respective strengths of the (existing) Oracle Enterprise Service Bus and the (newer) OSB, in addition to providing an automated upgrade path for existing customers.

This tutorial demonstrates some of the core ESB features.
